So, Advent? A time of party and celebration with gifts and a holiday at the end? Or a time of sobriety and reflection with a festival at the end?
Spending? Good because it's a recession and that will help end it? Bad because that's consumer goods by and large and they are wrecking the world?
'Since Christianity both affirms the world as God's good creation and renounces it as corrupt through sin, we would expect to find some historical instances of oscillation between viewing pleasure as good and as evil, and so in fact we do.'
