Pessimism

It's Monday morning. Feeling optimistic? Or are your options misty? (See what I did there?)

Watching an episode of unnecessary positivism, or The Apprentice as they call it, I wondered what Sugar would make of someone with a slightly self-deprecating personality.

I find it useful, whilst presenting an unnaturally shallow face to the world, to imagine the worst that could happen (Dr Pepper style) each day. The philosopher Seneca advocated this and it works for me. Take a view (in your heart, not aloud) that the doctor will diagnose cancer, the family will be mangled in a road accident and the evening you've looked forward to for some time will be rubbish. End result - either your expectations are met or you have a better time than you hoped. It's a win/draw situation, minimum.

Try it. Can't make a Monday any worse.

the first thing I do each morning is look in the mirror

and then reflect

that the day can only improve from there...

helps keep me optimistic :-)

Far too depressing for my liking.

And in the morning I don't do any thinking or reflecting, I just get up, eat breakfast, get in the car, get out of the car, make a cup of tea... and then perhaps thinking might begin.

Is your Monday really that bad?
Why should Monday be bad for someone who works hard on a Sunday? Most poeple dislike Monday because it means back to work.

Pauline, my Mondays are great. I was just trying to help those less fortunate than myself.

Caroline. When you look in the mirror it is the mirror that reflects. Don't try and do its job for it. Mondays are bad enough for most people) without taking on extra work.
