In the next twelve months I want to meet a person, anyone will do, who can honestly put their hand on their heart and say that they have changed their driving habit as a result of seeing a car with a 'Baby on Board' sign in the window.
It seems to me no more helpful than an announcement to the world that the occupants have successfully procreated. I now read the sign as saying 'Idiot on board with child.'
Which, come to think of it, solves my dilemma. Perhaps we all (by 'we all' I mean those without such signs in our car windows) take the view that the sort of person who puts a celebration of their infant bearing in the window of their car with an expectation that this will make people drive more carefully in the vicinity will actually have precisely that effect because when we see the sign we assume the same sort of people who drive like plonkers also put stupid signs in the car window.
Resolution achieved. I always slow down in the presence of idiots.

I think the idea of these signs is to inform rescuers should the vehicle be involved in a crash.
Guess you travel pretty slowly everywhere then as idiot drivers seem to be all around us.
