I have been asked to go on the interview panel for an organisation looking to appoint an internal communications officer. If anyone has any thoughts, views or wisdom as to what qualities the panel should be looking for in an applicant for such a post please let me know.

Can't help thinking that the person needs to be pretty sociable thenselves - a natural networker. Then people will read their missives.
The other one would be someone who can listen and understand. What bugs a lot of organisations is when the communication tail wags the organisational dog. Comms serves the org.
I'm sorry to be vague, but it depends on the size, geographical spread etc of the organisation. What works for a small one in a single location won't work for a larger one spread across several (or more) sites. The only twoconstants are I think an ability to write/speak clear English, and an ability to get on with people.
"twoconstants" is of course a sign of my inability to write clear English, or at least type it.
If they have a favorite joke they can't be too off the mark :)
