Real Christians

The Internet Monk has posted a thought-provoking piece about the great evangelical desire (with which I too am unhappy) to know exactly who is in and who is out. Read his stuff here.

Interesting article. Something I've been thinking about too.

This summer just gone on the CYFA venture I help with, we had a similar discussion. There are lots of kids who don't come from any type of church background. They have been coming for 3 or 4 years now and many are moving towards believing in Jesus and following him. Interestingly, most seem to get it in their hearts before they get it in their heads, the opposite of most kids from church backgrounds.

We asked the usual review question at the end of the week - how many people become Christians? It was quite difficult to answer. Some of us came to the working conclusion that it isn't down to us to look for "in" and "out". That's God's job.

A friend of mine said to me recently "I am trying to have the same attitude with everyone. Jesus asked me to make disciples. So if I'm with one of the kids on my estate, I'll try and do that. If I'm with you now in this pub, I'll try and do that".

Finally, if anyone has any thoughts: At what point would we decide that the appostle Paul had become a Christian? When would he have signed up to the UCCF statement of faith?
