Pope John Paul II

An ordinary week in the diary of an Archbishop of Canterbury:

Thursday; criticise political parties for negative campaigning in run up to election
Friday; Pope's funeral
Saturday; wedding of future King of England

Hope he has a quiet Sunday.

Watched some of the Pope's funeral whilst at the gym. The teles were on with sub-titles whilst the music continued to pump out pop. Noticed at one stage that the concelebration was accompanied by Shake Your Body Down to the Ground. Cool. We should do that. The account of the Pope's journey from Poland to Rome was to the tune of I Walk a Lonely Street. Poignant.

Today's Guardian has a picture of the senior Roman Catholic clerics waiting for the Pope's coffin whilst a stiff breeze blew up. It seemed to me you lived your life like a cardinal in the wind.
