Earl Zinger

So very few get it right that I want to acclaim Earl Zinger and the Red Egyptians for their support slot at Wolverhampton Civic hall last Tuesday. The excellent Zero 7 were the headline act and very fine they were too, but Earl Zinger…

‘Hello, we’re Earl Zinger and the Red Egyptians and our job is to warm you up for Zero 7.’ Correct. That was their job.

‘Are you warm yet? No. We’ll play you some tunes then.’

Musical instruments = bass, drums and two apple macs with a few gizmos attached.

‘Are you warm yet? No. Then run to the foyer and buy our CDs then run back.’ Good line.

‘We’re our own roadies so it will make us feel better if you carry on applauding while we pull the wires out.’ We did. Bought 'Speaker Stack Commandments', the latest of the two CDs on offer during the interval. First time for years I have bought a support act CD at a gig. Can’t stop playing it. Addicted I think.

Have been writing a youth group session for Crusaders on the subject of addiction. I’m sure I have an addictive personality, not meaning that people get addicted to it but it gets addicted to things. Do you think blogging could be an addiction? Lets seek after that truth for a bit.

i was there at this gig! from what i remember there was an act that didn't perform, and Earl zinger replaced them? Zero 7 were great but Earl zinger stole the show for me! i bought the CD and i still play their album regularly! Such a fantastic and unique album, totally loved that gig! totally love this post!

Thanks!
