Thought for the Day
You can still write inappropriate and politically incorrect jokes for a living but you cannot tell them. You need to put them on the lips of an unsavoury character in a work of fiction.

Alternatively, although very close connected, is to persuade your audience that you are yourself a knowingly ironic creation by yourself. You could call it the "Jonathan Swift" gambit. It's the method I prefer.
