Tonight will be my first Annual Parochial Church Meeting in Nailsea and I always look forward to them with a cocktail of emotions. Will people ask stupid questions? Will someone get cross about something silly? Will someone who loves the sound of their own voice speak for too long about something few of us are really bothered about?
Will it be well chaired? Will there (gasp) need to be an election? Will it end before last orders (now that's a biggie)?
I think I ought to go to four more to be fair to the other four parishes (two benefices, do they have two or one meeting?) in the Local Ministry Group.

did you manage a late ale?
1029 - 1135 (don't tell).
I think that most (if not all) of your fears were unfounded.
I remember a 15 minute debate about a £25 item (out of a £30,000+ turnover)on our parish accounts when I was a curate.
Glad to hear fears were unfounded and ale obtained.
When I was a vicar I moved the APCM to Sunday mornings after a shortened service so that a) more than the PCC came and b) to emphasise that the reports, finances etc were spiritual business.
Them were't days
The comments above are interesting in that they turn what I described as a 'cocktail of emotions' into 'fears.' Will post on this as it is important, if for no other reason than that we try to listen to each others' langauge with care.
