One year later

About 12 months ago I submitted a piece to the Guardian Saturday Family section under the heading 'We Love to Eat.' It is about my love of grapefruit. They told me it would be ages before it was published but they would let me know a few days before.

Catching up on yesterday's Guardian just now I found they had finally published my piece without telling me. Read it here.

Don't like grapefruit myself. Too bitter probably, even with the sugar on.

Funnily enough, I could eat grapefruits when in Pakistan. Are they different over there?

Sorry - realised that sounded like an 'ooh, aren't I the exotic foreign traveller' sort of comment. Not meant to be, it's just that it has always intrigued me why I didn't mind the grapefruits there but can't eat them in the UK.

Still, they're not as bad as mushrooms, which are EVIL.

I share your inexplicable nostalgia for tinned grapefruit. Must be something to do with living through the 1970s
