Elections and One Nation

So the American people have spoken. About half of the ones who could be bothered to vote voted for the one with the scary hair; the other half (roughly) voted for the one with the scary policies. I love democracy. The idea of 'better the devil you know' articulated by many has put the man with the scary policies back in the White House for four more years. The very idea that only the person who caused the mess can fix it. 'Yes dear I know that my putting a wire coat hanger inside the live toaster has blown all the fuses in the house but I'm sure we don’t need an electrician. I'll just keep wanging the coat hanger around a bit and I'm sure the lights will come back on.'

Went to Kelsey’s, a sort of bar/pub for young people, last night to see the excellent local jazz/funk/percussion band One Nation.

Got a bit lost. Asked some tough looking guys, talking on the street corner (I’ll talk to anyone me) who were most helpful. Realised it was the pub I had just passed with no name. ‘Is it that big bar with no sign?’
‘Yeah that’s the one; have a nice night.’

Walked in to find most of the bar full of women dressed scantily as WPCs. I assume that was the case and not that they were WPCs dressed scantily. Actually either would be fine. Enjoyed the view whilst waiting for a drink.

Anyway the gig was in the basement which felt a bit like descending to level two of an eighteen certificate platform game. The basement had more clothes on. The band were fine. The only real ale was off, but a pint of Fosters and an Orange J2O cost £2.80. Student prices eh?
